Flannista

Look closely -- Danyl Johnson and Jamie Archer are ONE AND THE SAME.

He's pullin' a Critty.

Flannista

The Sassistas! apologize that we were unable to embed the actual videos into the post -- only the links. Seems like Youtube's gotten real fussy and doesn't want all us little people taxing its platform. Gosh -- that sounded kind of Republican, didn't it?

Flannista

I'm going with Danyl, the school teacher on this one. He's just so damn cute. Further, every one of the judges looks as though she or he (yes, look closely at Simon), is ready to jump his bones.

Danyl -- count me as another friend to help you get by Afro Boy.

Matissta

I think Jamie Archer's performance was more passionate, but I don't think he sang as well. That Afro has definitely gotten him noticed. It reminds me of the old Yahoo! commercial.

But my money is on Danyl. He will appeal to more of the mainstream. I do wonder if he'll be able to keep it up though. Afro Boy has much more experience on the stage.

Will be interesting to see who wins the contest. They might both burn out before then.

Flannista

"I do wonder if he'll be able to keep it up though." See what I mean about how attracted the judges were to Danyl?

Flannista

Wanted to let the 'sphere know that I am off-site ALL DAY with a client in downtown DC. I'll have my laptop and iPhone, and will read all comments, that's for certain. Just not sure I will have the time to post any until early this evening.

So you all behave yourselves, okay? Surprise me.

Flannista

One more thing: I believe this is the FIRST time the Sassistas! have posted performance videos BEFORE they went viral. Who knows? Because of us . . . yes, because of ALL of us checking in and commenting today, we might have 25 million hits by the end of the day.

On-a-Journey Sista

Great post today! Flann - Simon Cowell's last name is spelled incorrectly at the end of the post. Don't mean to be picky - just thought you'd like to know. Wow - both these performances blew me away. The second dude is pretty entertaining, but I am distracted a tad by his hair which seems to take center stage. The first dude is adorable. It's a tie ini my book at this point.

On-a-Journey Sista

Yikes - I made a typo too! It should read "It's a tie in my book at this point."

Flannista

As you have pointed out all the typos, I won't bother to correct them, On-A. Every time I see Simon, I think "crow" -- I have no other explanation. I'm surprised Jersey didn't notice the misspellings.

You don't think Danyl and Jamie are one and the same dude? Put the Afro on Danyl and you get Jamie.

Anyhoo -- school started around the country, perhaps even the rest of the world. I'm pulling for the teacher.

Jerseysista

I immediately thought Danyl and Jamie were the same guy. Looked at 'em long and hard but finally concluded Danyl is just too cute to have a double.

PEACEsista

Look closely, Flann. Danyl has no chest hair either. The dude's got less hair everywhere than Jamie. I'll get back to you later with my vote once I've had time to watch the videos.

Flannista

I'm thinking that Danyl puts on fake chest hair when he puts on the Afro, PEACE. And I do hope that you take time to listen to his respective performances. They are terrific.

Flannista

Anyone notice that huge black spot on Danyl's lower left leg? If we could get "Jamie" to drop his trousers, bet that spot would be there.

(Obviously my clients are late. Here I am in a lovely conference room that really looks like a living room, and the clients aren't here. The meeting was scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST.)

I might start singing myself.

Flannista

Hey, if any of you had to perform a song for a show like this, what song would it be and why? And don't say you can't sing, etc. I can't, either. Just sass a long, okay?

babysis

I guess I've watched a few too many of these shows to become even MORE cynical than I typically am, which is hard to imagine. Part of the deal is the hype and the crowd, and the judges' expressions, and the over production in general, but I dislike most of that. Close your eyes and listen, and it's still hard to pick a winner, but neither is god's gift to music, in my highly cynical opinion. But yes, they were great performances given the nature of those shows and probably capable of commercial success.

If I have to pick, I think I'll take the first guy, because the real lead singer of Kings of Leon is the bomb, and how dare Afro boy think he can measure up. Do any of you feel such defensiveness about previous performers of the first song?

Jerseysista

My song picks would be "Wildflowers" by Dolly Parton or "Arms of a Woman" by Amos Lee.

Carolyn

I'm with the babe sis on this one. Unimpressed? That would be me. I hope that neither one of 'em quits their day job, cause God's gift to singin they ain't.

babysis

Beautiful song picks, Jersey.

Carolyn, thanks for backing me up. What are we going to sing in that imaginary world Flann proposed?

half-a-sista

Shows how much attention I paid that I thought they were the same person. I watched the short-haired guy sing and then the Afro guy sing. And as the second guy sang I kept waiting for the wig to fall off his head. I think they are the same person like Flann said. Either that are they are twins separated at birth. Spooky.

I really didn't like either one's singing, but the passion was all there. They are performers who can sing, not singers who can perform. But it doesn't matter, they entertained the crowd.

Matissta

babysis, something tells me that the song you would pick would be a Led Zeppelin song. Or would it be a Heavy Metal song from the '80's?

Flannista

Checking in during a break, sassophere.

I'd sing something from Nine Inch Nails. Yeah, I would. With the Afro.

babysis

Matiss, 80's are at least a close guess, but no, probably something from 'Til Tuesday's "Everything's Different Now" album.

babysis

On second thought, I think I'd get further with the audience by going with "The Great Gig in the Sky" by Pink Floyd.

Matissta

There ya go! Me? I'd sing "Disco Duck."
