Flannista

Still shocked. Seems like a scene from the MId-East.

Flannista

Please use the sassosphere to post whatever you need to post about this terrible event.

treesta

I don't even know what to say.... I am here listening....

Flannista

I just worked out at the Fitness Center and the TV was on, but I heard no sound because I was listening to music. But the images; the images are horrifying and so very, very sad.

Flannista

Am watching MSNBC and a long-time Boston reporter -- Michael Barnicle -- just said this:

"You don't run into stories. Stories run into you."

That is how I am going to begin my workshop this morning.

Flannista

That older gentleman whose legs buckled beneath him in the video footage is being interviewed on "Good Morning, America". I had been wondering about him. He is 78 years old and is fine, but shaken.

frida

All I can think about is the scenes like this in every war zone in countries where there are daily bombings of children, soldiers, protectors...Dear old Boston and the rest of the world, too.

Flannista

Just heard that the second explosion was at the 26-mile marker -- the mile that was marked in honor of the victims of the Newtown massacre.

PEACEsista

My son, Peter, survived a bomb blast, an IED, which blew the axle off the 5-ton vehicle he was riding in and threw it on it's side. But, Peter was not in a marathon. He was at war.

Last night, our meditation group was scheduled to meet. The big snow storm kept most people from attending. But, another couple and I showed up. They met in Boston, decades ago. Does it make a difference for a few people to offer compassion, peace and healing to all those suffering as a result of this horror? I believe it does, especially when multiplied by a few people here and there all over the world. But, if not, at least it does no harm.

treesta

Every act of compassion, peace and love makes a difference. From the spectators and first responders who immediately ran toward the bomb blasts to help victims, to individuals in the Boston area who offered to open their homes to anyone stranded in Boston due to the bombings, to folks donating blood, to folks offering prayers. These acts of loving-kindness offer hope in times of darkness.

Justista

We must continue to feel the pain and the horror. We must not allow ourselves to become like a child in an abusive home or a victim of domestic violence and stop feeling but just expecting the next blow. I am so apprehensive about what we will find if the crime is solved.

Justista

Code thingy: descending

Flannista

My morning workshop is over. Sitting here in the presentation room, alone and quiet.

Justista

How did the workshop go Flann?

Flannista

Thanks for asking, Justista. Was going to post about the workshops today but the news out of Boston was clearly more important.

The workshops went well. Feedback sheets were handed out at the end and participants had to rate the workshop and presenter in 10 categories on a scale from 1 to 5. The workshop and its presenter got straight 5's from every participant yesterday and today. Very gratifying. One comment was, "Flann is so passionate about life and writing! I wish the workshop had lasted all day!"

PEACEsista

Keep ALL of those names. They will be among the first to buy your book. They will be lined-up for your autograph, just behind all of your friends!

Flannista

PEACEsista -- what would I do without your consistent, I mean, CONSISTENT, encouragement?! Thank you.

Flannista

By the way, I almost posted about Peter and his encounter with an IED, but thought it wasn't my place. Thank you for mentioning it, PEACE. I have to confess that he was the first person that came to my heart and mind when I saw the videotape of the Boston explosions. I remember videotaping Peter talking about that experience. It's powerful in its straightforward recitation of the facts.

Justista

Flann: you really need to write a book about your techniques. I marvel at your ability to get these corporate types to cooperate with you. They not only cooperate, they adore you. You are having an impact on so many people.

Flannista

I love you, Justista.

Thank you so much.

Flannista

Hey beloveds.

Too pooped to post last night.

Am up packing and getting ready to head to the airport.

Love to all.

treesta

Safe travels, Flann. And I hope Matiss is back home safe and sound, also. You both must be exhausted.

Flannista

At the airport. Matiss did make it home. Her car still is not ready, however. I swear, she cannot get a break.

PEACEsista

Welcome home, Flann!

We are into our third day of SNOW. I have six more inches to shovel this morning and it is still coming down. This is some wicked April shower! There are robins everywhere.

Does anyone know what (besides insects) I might put out for the Robins to eat? I have birdseed out, but is there some type of dried fruit they will eat?

Matissta

According to several articles I just read they'll eat fruit; apple slices, raisins, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and cherries. They don't mention it being dried, however.
