The quiet stillness of this poem is posted as a prayer for victims of the floods in Colorado and well as those victims of the Navy Yard shooting this morning.

Let's be carried away by slowing down.

News coming from the Navy Yard seems to be more and more dire. Thoughts and prayers abound.

1200 people missing in Colorado.

12 confirmed dead in Navy Yard shooting.

We have no words. Just heavy hearts and open hands.

All those things are true, but the SUN is shining RIGHT THIS MOMENT and that is at least one GOOD thing. Prayers abound and the whole front range is mobilizing to help those affected by flooding.

Our prayers also travel east to DC, as yet another mass shooting is under investigation. "How many deaths will it take till we know that too many people have died? The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind ..."

I'm very grateful to say that the first news I heard of the shooting was a text from my brother saying that he was not working at the Navy Yard this morning. Then I got on the computer to hear the news that got more horrific by the moment. Prayers for all of those killed and injured, and their families.

What I'd do right now for that green canoe and a tranquil lake. May everyone feel a sense of that much-needed peace.

Is RGIII going to put it together today?
